Olinda every day
Carnival ends on Ash Wednesday; Olinda does not. This is the permanent guide to the city: year-round culture, trip planning, and where to eat and shop leaving your money in the neighborhood.
Culture all year round
Maracatu rehearsals happen outside carnival. Frevo workshops happen in July. The guide schedule does not hibernate: rehearsals and experiences with culture makers keep coming in — and you can save them to your agenda just the same.

Planning your trip
- Olinda is walked on foot, and the historic center’s hills are cobblestone: closed shoes all year, water always, strong sun from 10am to 4pm.
- The neighborhood areas — Rio Doce, Peixinhos, Aguazinha — are easier to reach by car and bus than the historic center. Each area page says how to get there.
- Off season the city is calm; in season (October to February), book your stay months ahead.
Eat and shop in the neighborhood
The "Local business" badge is editorial: it says the business belongs to the neighborhood and was checked by the team. It is never sold — advertisers get the "Sponsored" label, which is a different thing.

Stories of living heritage
The stories of the people who make Olinda — the seamstress, the puppet maker, the maracatu master — appear here told by themselves, with signed consent, name credit and payment when portrayed. No story has been published yet: we would rather wait for the real person than invent a character.
